Description
Ghostly waves swirl around Castle Rock by Jeff Folger. Dawn arrives at Castle Rock on Marblehead's "neck". The neck is an island connected to Marblehead by a causeway. This morning the subtle pink, red and golds paint the sky with bands of color. The tide was mostly out but in the short time I was down on the pebble beach I could tell the tide was coming in. I'm accutely concious of whaere my camera bag is, in reference to the leading edge of the incomming waves. I found my small camera bag floating on the waves once. :-( I was shooting for as slow a shutter speed as I could get. I took the aperture down to F22 which means only the smallest opening for light to come through and this allowed me to shoot at 2-5 seconds. As the sky got brighter I was forced to raise my shutter speed to 6/10s of a second. Either way all of these images required a tripod. I love to catch the ghost like waves breaking over and around the rocks.
