Description
Each morning as the weather gets warmer I enjoy the opening of the morning glories in my garden. This one has sprung from a previous years seeds so I wasn't expecting to see it and in a week of growing and climbing it has scaled up the other plant as it's support. This works well for the supporting plant because the Morning Glory will bring in pollinators like bees and other insects and the other plant be also be pollinated at the same time. This Morning glory is a dark blue bordering on a light purple but I don't care because I just find them beautiful. I hope you enjoy it. the morning glory is a common name for over 1000 species of flowering plants in the family Convolvulaceae. Morning glories are at their best first thing in the morning just after dawn arrives they unwind or uncurled and open fully to grab full solar exposure throughout the morning but by early afternoon this morning flowers start to wilt with visible curling of the petals. Most are treated as perennials in frost free areas as annuals in colder climates like here in New England. One of my favorite habits is to put a wrought iron white chair out in my garden with a shallow bowl of water for the birds and then plant a large number of morning glory seeds at the feet of the chair. This way they will start to climb up the chair and wind their way up and around the back of the chair making for a beautiful display of their spring and summer colors.
