Description
A cardinal sits on bare winter branches. The red feathers give color to the monochromatic landscape of black and white. The temperatures must have been climbing into the mid 30s this day since the ice on the branches has started to melt and drip from the branches.
The bird feeder helps to keep them alive through the winter but I have to wonder how did they thrive before we started putting out bird seed.
The Northern Cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis) is a North American bird in the genus Cardinalis; it is also known colloquially as the redbird or common cardinal.
