Description
High tide at Derby Wharf Lighthouse by Jeff Folger. On a very foggy morning, a man walks out to Derby Wharf Lighthouse. The lighthouse belongs to the Salem Maritime Historic site and is maintained by the National Park. in the foreground are a pair of male and female bufflehead ducks. The fog makes it hard to see much but the light of the lighthouse and the man walking out to the end of the wharf. If this was during a full moon cycle the man might not be able to walk much further since during the full moon the tides are a foot or two higher and the end of the wharf, up to the lower bricks of the lighthouse can be covered with the ocean. As you can see here Salem harbor is less that a foot from cresting the end of the wharf.
