Description
The Old Squash House 1720 once resided on Gerry Island in Marblehead Harbor. Around 1865 Marblehead's "Seed King," James J. H. Gregory moved it from the island to Elm street in Marblehead Massachusetts. Mr. Gregory picked up the name seed king for being a great horticulturist. He delevloped the Blue Hubbard squash and invented the cherry tomatoe. The house got its name from the fact that Gregory had too many squash and he would keep them here. By the 1890s it was turning into a hall for the performing arts and today is a private residence.
