Description
The Ocean comes in during the new moon and can surround Derby Wharf Lighthouse which sits well back in Salem Harbor. Tides do this once or twice a month and while the tides wear away at Derby Wharf lighthouse its during big storms that there is real damage. The National Park is fighting an uphill battle by trying to keep the lighthouse high and dry. Not an easy chore when the high tide is influenced by a supermoon. This causes the harbor to climb past the top of the edge of the wharf and instead start knocking at the very front door of the lighthouse itself.
