Artist's Description
A cardinal sits on bare winter branches. The red feathers give color to the monochromatic landscape of black and white. The temperatures must have been climbing into the mid 30s this day since the ice on the branches has started to melt and drip from the branches.

The Northern Cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis) is a North American bird in the genus Cardinalis; it is also known colloquially as the redbird or common cardinal.
