Salem Harbor was a center of trade during the golden age of sail. hundered of ships would come in and out of the harbor every year. The revenue that was charged on all the foreign made or produced goods help the US leap into the world as a major power. This harbor in Salem Massachusetts is still bust but the types of boats are much different the 200+ years ago. There is little need for a Lighthouse because as you can see there is a lot of light polution now.
