Here is buried Justice John Hathorne, an ancestor of Nathaniel Hawthorne and one of the judges in the Witchcraft Court. No victums of the Witch trials are buried in the Old Burying Point but the people buried here after Judge Hathorne dies are all said to have been buried facing his direction so as to stare at him through all eternity and condeming him for never recanting his part that he played in the murder of these innocent victims in 1692.
