Artists Covered Bridge - Newry, Maine. The Sunday covered bridge has earned the reputation as the most painted or photographed covered bridge in Maine. It's no longer used and has been bypassed by a new bridge down the river a few miles. The Paddleford hybrid Burr arch truss. In 1822 the town of Bethel voted to build a covered bridge over the Sunday river. Almost every view of the Artist covered bridge is a scenic one. Both of the entrances are blocked off but the views from the side in the autumn show very nice color in early October. Even now the fall foliage colors have a week or longer to really reach peak fall foliage color.
