A view from the friendship of the Pedrick house and the Salem Maritime historic site buildings. Though small in size (only 9 acres) this was the first historic site in the United States, designated in 1938. The Pedrick house which is seen closest on the right is a new addition, arriving only a few years ago from Marblehead. In the distance you can see the customs house with its columns and Golden Eagle and to the right of that you see the Hawks house which date back to the 1700s. This is the type of morning that I prefer to be roving on Derby wharf at Salem Maritime historic site when the temperatures are quite moderate and a light breeze from off the ocean makes it a very pleasant experience. Even though it's November there's still some color in the trees along the waterfront but soon we'll trade that for snow and ice.
