Description
Red Sky on Marblehead Harbor. Today Marblehead is much different from its humble beginnings as a harbor that together with Salem brought much of the cod that allowed the coastal towns to flourish and grow in trade in the 17th century. Itâs still home today to a few working lobstermen. All though during the summer months it is tough to navigate out of the harbor due to all the pleasure craft.
I love to head out before the sun comes up and on the warmer mornings in early spring you can walk out on the neck road that connects the town of Marblehead with the âNeckâ. I sit there and listen to the seagulls squawking in the distance. The occasional car drives by or maybe a jogger for company.
From this end of the harbor down to the mouth you will find little spots to stop and catch scenic coastal images and out at the mouth of the harbor you will find Fort Sewall located along the northwestern edge of the harbor. On the other side you will find Chandler-Hoovey Park where Marbleheadâs Lighthouse stands. But that is another story, Visit my Vistaphotography Gallery.
