The burying point in Salem Massachusetts is one of the oldest cemeteries dating back to 1637. Some of the notable citizens buried there are Captain Richard More and Governor Simon Bradstreet. The most notable would be Chief Justice John Hathorne. He presided over the witch trials of 1692 witch led to the deaths of 19 innocent local residents hanged (with one pressing) during that year before the method of spectorial evidence was no longer allowed as evidence.
