(Digital photo painting) Nearby to Stowe Vermont there are a couple of covered bridge and this one has a storied tale. The Gold brook covered bridge is perhaps better known as Emily's covered bridge, and is reputed to be haunted. This story stems from a teenager who in 1968 wrote a story about Emily's ghost. One account is that Emily, on her way to her wedding, was run down by a runaway team of horses (or her horse threw her and she plunged to the rocks below the bridge and another was that Emily was to have met her lover (of whom her parents did not approve) at the bridge so they could elope. Emily waited at the bridge, but her guy never showed up. Brokenhearted, she hanged herself from a rafter. Another is that One woman said she made up the story to keep her children from crossing the bridge. (probably most true) But either way there are few direct accounts of a specteral encounter.
