Description
The town of Peacham Vermont (population 732) lies in what is now known as the NorthEast Kingdom and Caledonia county. The term NEK was derived from Governor George Aiken of Vermont when trying to describe the counties of Caledonia, Essex and Orleans. The written term "NEK" is often used. Peacham only has a few stores and a few art galleries in town so a commercial draw it is not. The reason people flock to Peacham is the "Vermont feel" that they think it exudes. Roads in either direction of town quickly turn to well maintained dirt roads. and as you can see in this image a farm with dairy cows are right behind the church in the "downtown". Walking down the street is to hear a rooster "cock-a-doodle-do" every once in a while. The is a peacefulness here in Vermonts NorthEast Kingdom and Peacham
