New England fall colors are the best in the late afternoon to just before sunset. Here a small country church in Alfred Maine sits between several maple and pine trees giving great breadth to the color palette of autumn. In the morning the light is much cooler so if I can, I try to catch the late afternoon so I can get the warm light on the autumn leaves. Shot from the side gives depth to the fall foliage colors that shooting with the sun to my back doesn't provide.
