Each tick of the clock echos in our ears and we slowly are either driven mad by being in the house suffering from cabin fevor or we head outside to soak up the early suns rays. Even at its strongest, the sun barely makes a dent in the cold breeze passing over the mud flats at low tide. We walk here at low tide to see what has been washed up from the past. Sometimes a bottle and other times its only a shard that has been worn smooth on the sand and rocks until the tides have done their work and a soft bit of hard glass which we call sea glass is presented at our feet. So while my wife looks for flotsum out where the ocean water usually sits I walk along the mud flats looking back at the shoreline where in a few hours I would need a boat to rest on the incoming tidal waves.
