Description
This was shot in May at sunset and an equally great shot is at Dawn when the warm light lights up the granite rocks and the white tower. The house is a private residence for a local Coast Guard member and his family. Tourists can get close to the bell and light via a concrete path, but most of the grounds remain private. There is a short walk which takes you to a series of wooden steps that lead you down onto the many granite boulders that provide a great view of the harbor side of the lighthouse. I would suggest both a wide angle lens and up to a 120mm tele-photo. At a real low tide you can climb down on the rocks and give the viewer a really good idea of the rocky nature of the Maine shoreline. This was obviously a calm wind day and I and other photographers were waiting for the sun to pop out under the cloud deck which could have made for an incredible sunset sky... It didn't happen the way I wanted but it was nice. Visit #vistaphotography by #jefffolger
