Nauset Lighthouse on Cape Cod chart by Jeff Folger. I love to visit Cape Cod and the different lighthouses that stretch from one end of Cape Cod to the other. In the days of wooden sailing ships, transporting goods around the world, the rocky shoreline was a very real danger and keeping off the rocks was not always easy.
Nauset Light is officially known as Nauset Beach Light. It stands watch in Eastham Massachusetts. The lighthouse is a red and white tower topped with a black lantern room.
The lighthouse used to be at the edge of the bluff overlooking the Cape Cod National Seashore. The National Seashore is a National Park property that was created in 1961 by John F. Kennedy. It encompasses 43,607 acres in Massachusetts, including ponds, woods and beachfront of the Atlantic coastal region.
