Description
Mount Rushmore is carved out of the granite of South Dakota. It was sculpted by Danish born Gutzon Borglum and his son. The four presidents are George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. It was started in order to promote tourism in the Black Hills region of South Dakota. Mount Rushmore is today one of the most popular National Monuments in the country.
