Description
The Lynx is a recreation of an 1812 schooner and privateer. She is also know as a Baltimore clipper. She was designed to be faster than other ships and her design allowed her to sail in ways other trading ships and warships that were square rigged couldn't. Her she is seen passing Whaleback light station or lighthouse. Even though the image appears old this scenic image is an impossibility since the Lynx was captured early in the war of 1812 and the first structure built on Whaleback ledge or Whale's back ledge wasn't built there until 1820. But since 1820 and from then on many a ships master were very happy that this lighthouse was present to warn of the deadly rocks lying just below the surface.
