Description
Sun reflecting on Bake Island Lighthouse by Jeff Folger. There are two ways to get a good view of Baker Island lighthouse. The first is to ride the ferry to Boston or you can take a lighthouse tour via the Essex Heritage group and tickects can be purchased at the Visitor center in Salem. There is a third way, you just have to be able to live out there. You see the island is a private one and no one is allowed out there unless you live there or you are on an approved tour. Baker Island lighthouse sits between 3-4 miles from Marblehead light or Pickering lighthouse on Salem's Winter island. The tower height is 59" and the beam is an alternating red and white beam every 20 seconds.
