Description
The Witch house which belonged to Jonathan Corwin sits much as it did back in 1692. Judge Jonathan Corwin was called upon to be a magistrate and investigate the claims of witchcraft in the town of Salem Village and neighboring communities. Corwin served on the Court of Oyer and Terminer which sent 19 to their deaths. 18 were sent to the gallows and one, Giles Cory was pressed to death. All nineteen refused to admit to witchcraft and maintained their innocence. The elderly Giles Cory was asked after many large rocks were placed on the board underwhich he lay, if he were a witch? To which he replied was "more stones".
